Project Spreaker: Interview with Tonia Maffeo

Friday, May 27th, 2011

When we contacted Tonia Maffeo to study the project Spreaker which is community manager, There have been affected the enthusiasm and positivity of her words, as you can read for yourself, immediately reveal the character whole project.

Spreaker is an online application to create and share content and audio streaming via web, through which users become deejays and radio hosts.

Spreaker can be heard live and streamed through a widget that supports all major mobile platforms and social media.

But now we leave the floor to Tonia…

1. Hello Tonia, presented

To introduce me I could start by saying:

“Hello, I am Tonia, the Community Manager Spreaker”

but all the staff at Spreaker started to laugh because this is my typical sentence with which I present myself is hugely popular on the Web.
So I shall be more original! :)

True Neapolitan transplanted to the north, 27 years, I am happily host of this charming city of about 4 years, between long periods of wandering abroad and return to melancholy in the Bel Paese, Bologna has a special magic no doubt that over the years has given me good opportunities, work experience as I am living.
Here in Bologna learned I graduated and I live in a permanent position since I started working as a Community Manager to Spreaker, but never renounce my greatest passion: travel!

2. Tell us about the project and your role within it.

Spreaker is a project that was launched about a year ago by a group of young entrepreneurs in Bologna and who has distinguished himself in the world of startups in Italy for its strong international flavor and the grit and the ability of the team.
With a first round of funding concluded in October 2010 thanks to the group of business angels IAG (Italian Angels for Growth), Spreaker is now preparing to climb the American market.
Francesco Baschieri, CEO Spreaker, is already a few weeks in the U.S., San Francisco, I try to develop a network of contacts and fertile hunting for capital investment.

Spreaker In my role is the Community Manager: I deal with people, the presence on social networks, the blog, online reputation and so on and so forth! :)

In reality, precisely because we are a startup you pretty much everything and I really like this because it makes me grow from a professional perspective. I've always been a lover of all that is dynamic and here I cut out so many things to do.

3. We present the project team?

Currently the team consists of Mark and Rocco Pracucci Zanni, the two programmers,Francesco Daniele Cremonini Baschieri and the founders, Laura Gramuglia the publishing manager and then some collaborations around the world that help us to spread the platform.
All under 35, is rare in Italy and I am particularly proud!

4. What should a woman do to find and seize the opporunità like this that you're living?

Dare and jump, there is nothing to lose so why not do it? One must experience, try, test and see if you're on the right track or not. But I do not think this is a speech only female, rather, I think it is equally applicable to both sexes without discrimination of any kind.

5. Have you encountered problems? If yes, which? Do you think if I were a man would have been much easier?

They came from Spreaker without taking over and the first month was a bit hectic but I've gotten. If I were a man I would run screaming :D
Seriously, I believe that in situations other men and women react differently, but it is not a question of what kind of personality and character!

6. Bologna, gives, Technology: such as points of excellence and which are still to be improved?

Here in Bologna there are several examples of successful startups, both in technology that. All’Almacube, the business incubator that hosts us, I really interesting comparison with daily.

What is there to improve? Even so, but not only in Bologna, throughout Italy.

This country is backward and must be otherwise rejuvenate the desire to get into the game and dare to be used elsewhere, and it is unfair!

We thank Tonia for her kindness and her willingness and… see you soon for that coffee ;)
